What are some great tips you can share about drawing? Study fine art, its amazingly important in every way. Draw everything all the time. Learn how shadows and lights look on things. Learn different techniques with various tools. Figures and proportions. 2. When did you first start to draw manga? I really liked sailor moon when I was like 8 or whenever it came out here, I had some pretty neat looking sneakers. I always liked to draw comic-like things but sailor moon was probably when I started to draw manga. I didn't make any really specific characters until about 8th grade. 3. Name the greatest influence on your manga. Usually music and history. 4. Has DREAM been helpful to you in any way? Well, I hope it will be, because I need some type of formal deadline to draw. If I set deadlines for myself, I just delete them and draw miscellaneous things instead. 5. What was the first manga you ever bought for yourself? Ohhh, gosh I cant remember. Maybe...I think it might've been Peach Girl? 6. Name the pens you use for drawing manga and how you use them. If you ink digitally, name the sizes and types of brushes you use and how you use them. I do the majority of my inking traditionally with a 102 and 107 sized pen nibs with some black ink. White ink too, but its fun to use and I get overzealous. Self control. 7. How long does it take you to do one page from planning to toning and lettering? I do storyboards for each chapter, than start drawing the whole chapter, inking the whole chapter, scanning (hatred), etc. I go by chapter so I can't really say...maybe, 4-5 hours? It depends on how much tone is on the page, that takes the longest. Also I'm really picky with detail. 8. What is the average length of your mangas? Chapters are 30-40 pages usually, one shots are about the same. 9. After this manga, what type of manga would you like to draw next? I've already started planning it out. It’s a romance, school such. Im excited. 10. What inspired you to draw manga? The need to make something so painfully detailed in every pannel, wanting to improve all the time. 11. When did you first start to draw manga? Same as before. 12. Who do you say gave you the most support while drawing manga? Friends, they enjoy my random customized stationary gifts. 13. Do you want to draw manga as a living? I would love that more than anything. 14. Do you prefer traditional or computerized when it comes to coloring? Coloring? Traditional, but it depends on how the person colors digitally. 15. Have you ever tried to promote your manga in any way? Name some please. No. My family wants me to take the stationary sets and such to a little shop that sells things people make, but Id be too nervos to. Seriously, who would buy that? 16. Was there ever a period of time where you completely stopped drawing manga for any reason? No. It covers every page of notes from classes. 17. Do you usually know the ending of your manga before you begin? Do you enjoy knowing/not knowing the ending? I usually have some idea, Cross My Heart is a definate, but Sakasama isnt totally decided yet. 18. Out of all your series, which one do you feel closest to? Please describe it in a few sentences. Cross My Heart. Is it odd to say I would consider Kanako and Ukiyo like children to me? I truly love them, they have so much of me and my emotions put into them. 19. Have you ever done a doujinshi? Which series was it based on? No. 20. Which of your characters do you like the most? Kanako because she was the first character I ever really kept developing, I love her. Ukiyo (also CMH) is in every way completely awkward. It's not intentional really, it just happens that way. But I like him, deep, deep down there's love for him. |
