Masterplan, Linkin Park, Evanescence, Barenaked Ladies, RENT (soundtrack), etc. Interview 1. What are some great tips you can share about drawing? Well, considering I'm only a writer, I'll change it to "tips I can share about writing." Number one tip: PLAN THINGS OUT! If you had to explain all of the major things that happen in your story, you should be able to answer with little trouble. If you don't plan, you will almost certainly write yourself into a wall. At the very least, make an outline. 2. When did you first start to draw manga? Never, but I started writing it back in September of 2006. 3. Name the greatest influence on your manga. Dragonball Z (TLS), Fate/Stay Night (Goddess Shariah), Princess Waltz (Shall We Dance?). They had other influences, but those were probably the main ones. 4. Has DREAM been helpful to you in any way? It's hard for me to answer this question at this time, but I'll say yes, in the sense that I've always wanted to be featured in something like this. 5. What was the first manga you ever bought for yourself? Flame of Recca and Excel Saga vol.1. They remain some of my favourite manga of all time. Excel Saga is still ongoing, you know <.<. 6. Name the pens you use for drawing manga and how you use them. If you ink digitally, name the sizes and types of brushes you use and how you use them. N/A 7. How long does it take you to do one page from planning to toning and lettering? N/A 8. What is the average length of your mangas? Long <.<. Seriously, I don't think I could ever write a one-shot. The Lone Swordsman is my epic, so it's my longest, but Goddess Shariah and Shall We Dance? will run for just over 20 chapters. 9. After this manga, what type of manga would you like to draw next? I'm currently working on writing a Medieval style Manga called Lunar and Blood. I even have a potential artist lined up for it. 10. What inspired you to draw manga? Again, I'm replacing "draw" with "write." I always loved anime/manga style storylines. They are way better than American styled comic books, and after watching various animes, I grew inspired to write stories like them. 11. When did you first start to draw manga? I started writing seriously back in 2003, which is when I started writing The Lone Swordsman in a novel format. Before that, I wrote a story called The Real Game (a kid gets trapped in a video game and has to save that alternate reality. Too cliche nowadays) and a Bomberman fanfic I wrote back in Elementary School for English Class <.<. 12. Who do you say gave you the most support while drawing manga? A couple of my friends. After I posed my ideas for The Lone Swordsman to them, they really encouraged me to get it written out. 13. Do you want to draw manga as a living? I would absolutely LOVE to write manga as a living. It'd be a dream come true for me. 14. Do you prefer traditional or computerized when it comes to coloring? Personally, I think computerized looks better. But I also know very little about art, so it's tough for me to say. Some traditional styles also look very nice. 15. Have you ever tried to promote your manga in any way? Name some please. I did a few Project Wonderful ads back in the day for The Lone Swordsman. I also have my comics as Donator Comics on Smackjeeves. 16. Was there ever a period of time where you completely stopped drawing manga for any reason? No, TLS updates too frequently for me to stop. 17. Do you usually know the ending of your manga before you begin? Do you enjoy knowing/not knowing the ending? Yes, and I believe everyone who writes manga or any story for that matter should at least know the beginning and end. The middle can come later, but if you have no idea how to end your story, then you're in big trouble and it becomes harder to plan the middle from there. 18. Out of all your series, which one do you feel closest to? Please describe it in a few sentences. Shall We Dance? because it's the only one that I feel is good enough to be professionally published. Though The Lone Swordsman is my epic, so it's pretty close to me as well. 19. Have you ever done a doujinshi? Which series was it based on? I wrote a Beyblade fanfic, to be honest, once <.<. I didn't complete it though. 20. Which of your characters do you like the most? TLS: Kratos and Siska Levole. GS: Shariah Nemphis. SWD: Fuji (yet to appear). Overall: Shariah Nemphis. |
