Interview

1. What are some great tips you can share about drawing?
If you're reading a manga or watching an anime your really like, try studying the art form and focus on every little detail so you can soak it in and perhaps develope a style from there. I even find myself pausing an anime sometimes just so I can examine the scene. Also, music makes the whole experience more enjoyable so put something on!

2. When did you first start to draw manga?
About 10 years ago. I was 11.

3. Name the greatest influence on your manga.
Sailor Moon definitely. My style improved quite a bit after I started collecting the manga. CCS helped as well.

4. Has DREAM been helpful to you in any way?
Hmm...I just got here..xD though everything here inspires me, so I guess it has been helpful :)

5. What was the first manga you ever bought for yourself?
Sailor Moon

6. Name the pens you use for drawing manga and how you use them. If you ink digitally, name the sizes and types of brushes you use and how you use them.
I use procreate painter classic (now corel) for my line art most of the time, but sometimes I do it in photoshop, starting with a large image, size 3 brush, then resize by half to make it look thinner. Mhm.

7. How long does it take you to do one page from planning to toning and lettering?
Uhh...

Dialogue: 2-3 minutes
Thumbnail: 3-5 minutes
Line Art: 2-4 hours
Lettering: 2-3 minutes
Toning: 3-6 hours <_<; I'M SLOW, K?

8. What is the average length of your mangas?
I'm not sure, to be honest. Saints' Calling is the longest manga I've ever had, and its over 100 pages so far. After reading over my current dialogue, I estimated it'll be near 1000 pages when it's done (so don't expect it to be finished for a few years XD)

9. After this manga, what type of manga would you like to draw next?
Ahah..I haven't thought that far >_>; If I'm still up to it, I'd like to do a prequel to my current manga.

10. What inspired you to draw manga?
The style, really. I always found american cartoons to be kinda...sloppy looking (except disney movies) and I couldn't really find too much inspiration from them. When anime became more popular in the US, it was quite refreshing and I couldn't help but take out my pencil and start mimicking it. Then I discovered manga and tried to mimick that as well.

11. When did you first start to draw manga?
Didn't I answer this already...o_o?

12. Who do you say gave you the most support while drawing manga?
My fiance, my art friends, etc etc.

13. Do you want to draw manga as a living?
No =[ its more for my own personal enjoyment.

14. Do you prefer traditional or computerized when it comes to coloring?
Computer.

15. Have you ever tried to promote your manga in any way? Name some please.
Umm...just posting it on websites like deviantart and smackjeeves. Nothing more than that.

16. Was there ever a period of time where you completely stopped drawing manga for any reason?
Hmm..I had to put SC on hold for over a year because I was going to culinary school at the time. However, I still drew sketches in the free time I actually did have..

17. Do you usually know the ending of your manga before you begin? Do you enjoy knowing/not knowing the ending?
I know the basics of the ending, yes. Still needs tweaking, though.

18. Out of all your series, which one do you feel closest to? Please describe it in a few sentences.
Lol, SC's my only one. I actually didn't take the series seriously when I first started it, but the characters just grew on me. As pathetic as this sounds, I need them when I'm lonely ^^;

19. Have you ever done a doujinshi? Which series was it based on?
LOL. I did a Sailor Moon fancomic when I was like 12 xD it was called SAILOR EARTH. Lmao.

20. Which of your characters do you like the most?
Franky and Felicia.
